For the past five years, Rev Dale Young, director of Congregational Health and I have been training Hispanics to establish bereavement support groups in churches. This program already existed in English, but there was a strong interest to expand this program in Spanish and the response has been just phenomenal.
From the beginning, this has been an extremely gratifying experience because we have had the opportunity to share with people of faith from different communities. We know that grief and loss touch each one of us and the purpose is to be available to help others in their process.
Bereavement is a truly significant issue; therefore, the way we cope with it needs to be extremely sensitive.
Our training covers different aspects and dimensions of grief. We offer ways bring to conduct support in a way that offers the bereaved the opportunity to share in a safe and loving place.
I wish you a beautiful day,
Ligia/11
