In recent days, an article published in Newsweek Magazine talked about women who have been recognized in different fields, from politics to economics to financial freedom. This article covers different perspectives regarding women, and what is clear is that in many places, women are rising as the transformative agents we really are.
Since the beginning of time, women have shown to have extraordinary strength and power. If we take a closer look at past cultures, we can find women represented as goddesses, such as in India, Rome, or Greece. We can also be inspired by women from the Bible, like Deborah, Esther, or Mary, the mother of Jesus, to name just a few.
Although, throughout the world we find women with great empowerment, we also find much oppression and a lack of recognition of our influential abilities. Still, women have proven to be exemplary role models in our families and society at large.
It actually starts at home, with our children. As mothers, we have enormous influence in how our children develop. We teach them life skills and instill values in them. I am one of those children who were inspired by their mothers. When my father died, I was just 12 years old and I saw my mother transforming herself from being a homemaker to developing into an empowered businesswoman. This immense loss allowed her to discover strengths she did not know she possessed, and she embraced them. She was not scared, and she continued with my father’s legacy. She actually told her story in my book "Transform Your Loss. Your Guide to Strength and Hope." This is the role model I had when facing an adversity. Taking this example in my heart, I realized we are able to transform any situation we face in life if we have determination and the desire to have control over our lives. We are able to make choices, but the desire has to come from within. I have also been inspired by the many women whom I have worked with who have transformed their own losses. These losses have been from the death of a loved one, a divorce, the loss of a job, or going through the transition of getting older. These are women who have learned to use the resources available to them and make positive changes in their lives. They have grown spiritually and emotionally. They face the world with open arms because they have realized there is life after a loss. And…you can realize it too!
Have a beautiful day,

Thank you Ligia! After my beloved Mother passed away I created an innovative technology to help other Jewish mourners and their families, http://ShivaConnect.com.
ReplyDeleteI turned pain into passion as I threw myself into this endeavor and the response has been incredibly heartwarming. Such an outpouring of appreciation from people who have found helpful information on the website and by using the "Shiva Registry" to notify and organize the shiva period.
Thank you for sharing this Sharon....you are an example of a woman who transformed her loss...You are an inspiration!
